November 12, 1969, Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn is expelled from the Soviet Writers Union.

One year later, he is awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature for The Gulag Archipelago.
“If only it were all so simple! If only there were evil people somewhere insidiously committing evil deeds, and it were necessary only to separate them from the rest of us and destroy them. But the line dividing good and evil cuts through the heart of every human being. And who is willing to destroy a piece of his own heart?”
― Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, The Gulag Archipelago 1918–1956
This gentleman is very wise, famous, and respected from long ago, but is still teaching in his own way. Thank you for sharing–and i enjoyed seeing his face.

Thank you Frances for adding your thoughtful comments. I have decided to add a new series on OTR Book Club entitled Milestones. When we look at the milestones of others we recall and celebrate our milestones. We live extraordinary lives.
