The Pathway

Every year on January 3rd, Tolkien fans from around the world are invited to raise a glass and toast the birthday of this beloved author at 21:00 (9 pm) local time.

The toast is “The Professor.”

“Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back and home to bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!”

    1. I always looks forward to your visits and comments. I must confess that when I first started with WordPress, I loved opening new blogs for practice. OnTheRoad is all about my thoughts on reading because when I look back over the years, I try to recall what I felt like when I read a book. Did I change? How did I integrate new knowledge? Unless I record a comment or two, I don’t remember my feelings towards the book. I have enjoyed following your blog and looking forward to a whole new year of adventure. I am glad that we connected over the blogger miles.

      2. Thank you! Recently, I have thinking about the great diarists of past centuries. If they hadn’t written down their thoughts we would never have understood their time. I wonder how all of our posts/blogs will be seen in the next century.
