There are times when the “stars” come together to match a book with the very moment that you need to read it. Dr. M sent me When Corporations Rule the World. I want this book to be a “slow read,” to be savored like a wonderful cup of tea, preferable Chai. This is my take away for today…

“It seemed evident from our analysis that to reestablish a sustainable relationship to the living earth, we must break free of the illusions of the world of money, rediscover spiritual meaning in our lives, and root our economic institutions in place and community so that they are integrally connected to people and life.”

  1. The word “spiritual” is one of those basket words that we use when we have difficulty defining the connection between humanity, creator, earth, community, fellow creatures and space and time. When in doubt – use spirituality. What is interesting to me is that everyone seems to understand what it means to them. And that is probably all that is required.

  2. This book could be a life changing book for many. The Living Bible translates I Tim.6:10 “For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil.” I googled “love of money” and found all kinds of info and opinions on the subject. One person gave the example of tobacco companies making their products even when it is known the products make people sick and cause death–just for money. I will wait for your comments as you read slowly through this book. As I say, it could be life changing! I will think about finding “spiritual meaning in our lives”, which is most important and after thinking about it, I may comment later.
